Vodacom Stormers captain Schalk Burger has suffered from asthma since childhood – something not many people know about the fiery flanker. With the help of his doctor, experience has taught him how to take care of himself, control his asthma and lead a normal life. In 2008, he also became an ambassador for NEAP (National Asthma Education Programme) to help create awareness around how asthma can be controlled and that it need not limit your life.
In support of World Asthma Day on 4 May, 6 year old Michael Stronach will, together with his hero Schalk Burger, lead the Vodacom Stormers onto the field to face the Crusaders on Friday night.

It’s great to be back in the Mother City. Whilst we are all very disappointed not to pick up our 3rd tour win in Brisbane, if someone had offered me 2nd position on the log with 3 games to go, at the beginning of the season, I would’ve taken it. Importantly our destiny remains in our own hands and we have two home games in front of the Newlands faithful – a massive advantage.
