The withdrawal of the Sharks from the annual pre-season Cape Town based tournament and a change in sponsor will see the DHL Stormers take on the MTN Lions and the Toyota Cheetahs in the “DHL Pre-Season Series”.
The 2 fixtures will both take place at DHL Newlands, with the Stormers taking on the Lions in the opener on Friday 27 January and then the Cheetahs on Saturday 4 February. The games form an important part of each of the teams preparation for the rigours of Vodacom Super Rugby.

The DHL Stormers will take on the Crusaders in the Cape based Vodacom Super Rugby semi-final on Saturday 2 July (17h05).
The Crusaders qualified for the DHL Newlands semi-final by beating the Sharks 36-8 in the first round play-off decider in New Zealand today. The DHL Stormers qualified to host the semi-final by finishing second on the overall log and had a bye this week.

The DHL Stormers found their attacking range at the right time as they powered to a 44-34 win over the Cheetahs in their final Super Rugby league match in Bloemfontein on Saturday night.
The Stormers scored a four-try bonus point for the fourth time this season, but they didn’t need it as all they required was a win to put them back into the top two and book an important bye for next week and, more importantly, automatic entry into the semifinal round.

Allister Coetzee at a press conference at the High Performance Centre today named his team to take on the Toyota Cheetahs in the crucial last league game of the season.
The DHL Stormers’ destiny remains largely in their own hands and depending on results in the final league fixtures and in their game against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein, the Cape franchise could finish 1, 2, or 3 on the log, qualifying for a home semifinal or quarterfinal (1st round finals series) game. The DHL Stormers play the last fixture on Saturday (19h10) and will know exactly what is required before kick-off.

There is always something special about a North/South derby and this week’s game is no different with massive interest and a sell-out crowd. The DHL Stormers continued their incredible defensive form during the 2011 Vodacom Super Rugby season by holding the Brumbies to just three points in their 16-3 victory on Saturday.
Coach Allister Coetzee after the game said he was very happy with his side’s performance in what were not the most ideal conditions. “It was a good victory for our boys. It wasn’t pretty, but it is the first ever win for the DHL Stormers in Canberra.
